NEW INNOVATION:
The core technology employed is rotary compression moulding and the closures for the carbonated soft drink industry are made under license to Alcoa CSi, global leaders in plastic closure technology. 2006 saw the launch of the new Double-Lok closure which incorporates the very latest in tamper band technology, whilst being designed around high speed bottling lines and ensuring optimal performance in these environments.
In 2006 MCG industries launched the MecoLok Closure, a single piece 28mm closure which will address the requirements of low carbonation beverages.
Further to that, MCG plastic closure division has launched a range of specialised sports drink closures (push/pull closures) in 28mm, 30mm and 38mm. These closures are of outstanding aesthetic as well as robust design that ensures that they are entirely leaksafe and also ensure maximum user-friendliness. The dust caps re-seal securely after the tamper evident band is broken and the push/pull mechanism ensures completely leaksafe re-sealing, after opening. The tamper band to bottle interface is of proven design (drop-down) and remains on the PET bottle after the closure has been compromised.
The closure design is by Corvaglia closures of Switzerland, on of the foremost closure designers/mould manufacturers in Europe, whose facilities include state of the art designing and mould making equipment, staffed by highly competent technical personnel. MCG SA are the sole Corvaglia licensees for a large portion of the African continent as well as the near Islands. The MCG range of closures is thus complimented by examples such as a lightweight 30/25 for bottled water and a 48mm 3 start closure.
The last half of 2007 will witness the start of local manufacture of the MCG/Corvaglia range of Sports Closures. The Sports Closure plant will be set-up inside the new, state of the art Plastic Closure manufacturing facility in Samrand, Gauteng.
